Guest speaker at the Organ Donation Flag Raising Ceremony & Celebration of Life Program this morning at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Spent the day visiting Family House in Pittsburgh, where people waiting for organs reside near the hospital. A young woman was interviewed for our upcoming documentary on organ donation awareness; she has been waiting for a portion of a liver for 19 months. What an amazing, beautiful person she is. www.familyhouse.org

Over 10,000 people participated today in the 17th Annual DASH for Organ Donation Awareness organized by Gift of Life Donor Program, at Philadelphia Museum of Art.
At the Lincoln Memorial. Spent time with a family who had both donated & received organs and with a lady who had received a kidney & a pancreas. Good things are happening. Today we visited Gift of Life Donor Program and Gift of Life Family House in Philadelphia. Gift of Life Donor Program is the region’s nonprofit organ donation program serving Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. Gift of Life Family House provides temporary lodging and support programs for organ transplant patients and their families. http://www.giftoflifefamilyhouse.org/ Thank you Erica, Patrice, Sara and all other staff members for helping to make our visit a warm and welcoming one. Once again we have learned so much. |
